Job Description : As an ASE Certified Mechanic with diesel mechanic experience, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing the fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment used in our construction operations. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance and repairs to keep our machinery and vehicles in optimal working condition. This position requires a candidate with a solid understanding of diesel engines, DOT regulations, and construction equipment. Key Responsibilities :
- Diesel Engine Repairs : Diagnose and repair diesel engines in construction equipment and fleet vehicles (trucks, heavy machinery, etc.).
- Preventive Maintenance : Perform routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, inspections) on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting : Identify mechanical issues and perform corrective repairs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Fleet Management : Maintain an organized maintenance schedule for all vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with company and DOT regulations.
- DOT Compliance : Ensure vehicles and equipment are in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including inspections, documentation, and certification.
- Parts Management : Order and manage replacement parts as necessary and maintain proper inventory records.
- Safety and Compliance : Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company and DOT standards.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure timely and efficient repairs. Qualifications :
- ASE Certification required (ASE Diesel or Master Certification preferred).
- 5 years of experience in diesel mechanic work, with a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- 10 years DOT Experience and thorough knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations.
- Proven experience with a variety of heavy-duty diesel engines and construction machinery (excavators, bulldozers, blades, scrapers, trucks, etc.).
- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic equipment and perform repairs effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work in the field as needed Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoors and in confined spaces.
