The work of Wyoming Independent Living is grounded on the Independent Living (IL) philosophy which maintains that persons with disabilities are the best judges of their service needs and how to receive those services. IL services are intended to assist consumers to attain the highest degree of independence and self-reliance possible.
Wyoming Independent Living is responsible for providing the five core services of a Center for Independent Living:
- Information and referral (I & R)
- Independent living skills training
- Personal and systems advocacy
- Peer support, and
- Transition services to youth and adults
The TCP Bookkeeper is responsible for managing consumer rider information, receiving vouchers/invoices and processing for payment, maintaining consumer database tracking mileage allotments, usage, and preparing monthly financial statements.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE
- Process consumer and driver paperwork to create and maintain accounts in consumer database
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Communicate regularly with TCP Manager and Specialists to identify issues with consumers, volunteer drivers and transit providers.
- Provide excellent customer service to co-workers, consumers and vendors
- Excel spreadsheet data entry including consumer allotments, usage, and quarterly budgets
- Receive and process vouchers and punch card requests for payment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Data entry: 1 year (Required)
- Bookkeeping: 1 year (Required)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including OneDrive, Excel and database software ·
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate with staff at all levels of the organization ·
- Understand and support the Independent Living Philosophy
- Personal experience with a disability preferred
- Ability to prioritize and follow up on tasks
- Able to troubleshoot computer or accounting system errors related to daily work
