What are the responsibilities and job description for the Class A CDL Transport Driver position at Wyoming Rents?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
· Make appropriate arrangements with the State Highway Patrol, over weight load division, Port of Entry, and utility companies for equipment being hauled. · Correctly fill out self-issuing permits and turn in copies of permits to Wyoming Machinery Payables Clerk. · Operate the truck and trailer correctly and safely, loading or unloading, obeying all traffic laws. · Provide some task training on the equipment being delivered. · Coordinate load with flag cars. · Inspect and maintain truck and trailer in good mechanical condition and report deficiencies for scheduled maintenance. · Load and unload all types of heavy equipment on to the transport truck and trailer. · Wash truck and trailer. · Keep current on all load restrictions on roads within state regulated by Wyoming Highway Department. · Assist in rigging load for crane operator. · Use forklift to off load or load equipment. · Maintain MSHA training for transporting equipment to mine sites. · Occasional on-call. |
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS |
· Assist Yard Coordinator in his/her duties or take over duties when not present. · Plow snow in parking areas. · Fill out shipping documents. · Comply with all driver’s logs, both electronic and paper. |
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY |
· High School diploma or equivalent. · Valid Commercial drivers’ license required (driving record must meet company insurance standards; driving record is reviewed annually) · Knowledge and understanding of laws for equipment transport. · Experience in transport driving and winching. · Good verbal and written skills. · Knowledge of proper signaling to a crane operator how to load and unload. · Able to pass physical exams and drug and alcohol testing for D.O.T. certification. · Able to operate/use a forklift, hand tools, Chains and boomers, Wide load signs, Self-issuing permits, Electronic Log Book, Maintenance records of truck, Shipping documents, Tractor and trailer, and Rigging equipment for crane. · Able to mechanically maintain and inspect the truck and trailer. · Able to operate heavy equipment. · Knowledge of permit issuance. · Attended driving school. |
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS |
· Normal business hours, Monday thru Friday. Some Saturday work and early or late hours as needed. · Sitting 8 hours a day while driving truck · Climb up and down all equipment · Move and lift blocking and small parts · Exposed to all weather conditions, inside and outside of the building |
