Head Ice Hockey Coach and Associate Director of Admissions
Wyoming Seminary seeks a Head Coach for our Boys Ice Hockey program and an Associate Director of Admission.
This is a dual-role opportunity as the qualified candidate will serve as Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Ice Hockey team and also as an Associate Director of Admission. The position is a full-time, 12-month position with the possibility of on-campus housing.
As Ice Hockey coach, the candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to all facets of the ice hockey program in advancing the mission of Wyoming Seminary and the Athletic Department. Sem's hockey program is an associate member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The team is also a member of the Midwest Prep Hockey League (MPHL), along with Lake Forest Academy, Gilmour Academy, Shady Side Academy, Rice Academy, St. Francis High School, and five Canadian programs.
All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of Wyoming Seminary and the Athletic Department.
As an Associate Director of Admissions, a successful candidate will need to have experience with some form of recruitment, preferably at an independent school or at the college level. The position will work in collaboration with either the domestic or international admissions process on all areas of recruitment. Previous experience with Veracross or any Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system will be an advantage for the candidate. Travel will include attending secondary placement fairs, school visits, showcases and other events that will yield potential day and boarding students. The ability to positively articulate the many benefits of a Sem education and effectively relate to young adults and parents is essential.
Wyoming Seminary, a toddler through postgraduate institution, is situated in the beautiful Wyoming Valley of Northeast Pennsylvania. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Head Coach For Boys Ice Hockey
- Oversees all aspects of the boys ice hockey program
- Provides leadership and instruction in the development of student-athletes by counseling team members in academic, citizenship, sportsmanship, and personal matters as needed
- Works with the Athletic Department on scheduling of practice, training, and games
- Communicates with students, parents, opponents, and administration in a timely and effective manner
- Recruit mission-appropriate student-athletes to join the school community
- Collaborates with the Athletic Department colleagues, Admission Office, Advancement Office, Communications, Upper and School faculty and staff, and the broader school community
- Sport-specific budget management, planning, and reconciliation
- Sport-specific equipment ordering, organization, management, distribution, and return
- Leads and directs the Ice Hockey coaching staff
- Works closely with the Athletic Department and its Athletic Training Staff for the care and prevention of athletic injuries and supports the overall drug and alcohol education program for student-athletes
Associate Director of Admissions
- Daily communication with prospective families, schools, educational consultants, and agents
- Database management of applications and all related materials
- Scheduling and conducting tours of campus and interviews of applicants
- Coordinate and communicate between campus offices
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally Other duties as assigned to support the Admission office
