Varsity Boys Wrestling Head Coach
A K-12 day and boarding school located in Northeast Pennsylvania, Wyoming Seminary seeks a proven, mission-driven professional to lead and continue to advance the Boys Wrestling Program.
The head coach will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the boys’ wrestling program in advancing the mission of Wyoming Seminary and the Athletics Department. The head coach will be a member of the Athletics Department and report directly to both the Director of Wrestling Programs and the Associate Director of Athletics.
Specific areas of responsibility include practices, weight management, wrestling-specific coaching, student-athlete development, program administration, and program advancement. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of Wyoming Seminary, the Athletics Department, National Preps, and National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).
Responsibilities:
- Advance Wyoming Seminary’s mission by building and maintaining a healthy and strong culture within the boys wrestling program
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Wrestling programs and the other wrestling coaches in the administration and development of the program. This includes understanding the boys program, both free and folk styles of wrestling, and helping to schedule competitions
- Ensure compliance with all USA Wrestling, National Prep, and Wyoming Seminary rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Organize practice plans throughout the year (including summer) and in response to the competition schedule
- Travel with the team, organizing workouts and events during travel
- Attend weekly coaches meetings, parent meetings, and team functions
- Provide leadership and instruction in the development of student-athletes by counseling team members in academic, citizenship, sportsmanship, and personal matters as needed
- Communicate effectively and regularly with students and families
- Partner with Wyoming Seminary’s College Counseling Team and the Athletic Directors to support the student athlete’s college recruiting process.
- Travel domestically and internationally for competitions.
- Work with admissions and the Director of Wrestling Programs to recruit mission-appropriate student-athletes.
- Work closely with the Athletic Trainers, Health Services team, and our Strength and Conditioning Coach for the prevention of athletic injuries and post-injury recovery plans.
- Support the overall drug and alcohol education program for student-athletes.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience coaching, recruiting, and fundraising at a high school, college or university.
- Current certification for CPR, AED, and concussion management.
- Demonstrated athletic leadership experience and strong administrative, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
- Potential for other campus work on a part-time basis and as needed.
