Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and responsible Respite Worker to provide support to families and caretakers of children and adolescents participating in the High Fidelity Wraparound (HFWA) program. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to giving caretakers a reprieve while ensuring the safety, well-being, and engagement of youth. This role involves a variety of tasks including medication management, observation, and providing opportunities for fun, positive activities. You will work closely with families, children, and other professionals to support the overall care plan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Caretaker Support: Provide regular respite to caregivers, giving them a break while ensuring the child or youth’s needs are met.
- Medication Management: Administer and track medications as prescribed, ensuring that the child or youth follows their medication regimen accurately.
- Observation: Monitor the youth’s behavior, emotional well-being, and overall condition while maintaining accurate notes and reporting observations to the care team.
- Engagement and Fun: Plan and participate in recreational and engaging activities that foster positive interaction and development.
- Responsibility and Reliability: Maintain a high standard of professionalism, including punctuality, responsibility, and confidentiality. Be a dependable and supportive team member for the family and care network.
- Collaboration: Work as part of a team to ensure the goals of the High Fidelity Wraparound process are being met and provide input to care plans as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children, youth, or families, preferably in a respite or similar support role.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with families, children, and other professionals.
- Ability to follow instructions, manage tasks independently, and adhere to confidentiality guidelines.
- Knowledge of child development and behavioral health issues is a plus.
- Ability to manage medications and follow protocols for medication administration.
- A caring and patient demeanor with the ability to build rapport with children and youth.
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the child and family.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required (depending on the role specifics).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a High Fidelity Wraparound program or similar wraparound care approach.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Relevant certifications in child development, social work, or behavioral health.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
