What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Specialist position at Wythe County Community Hospital?
Manages, processes, and maintains files and computer data for employee recruitment, employment, compensation, disciplinary action, licensure, certification, education and benefits. Serves as support for the Director of Human Resources, Serves as the liaison for the hospital for all benefit vendors.
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Health Care Administration, Business Administration preferred.
Knowledge of human resources information technology, applications such as Lawson, Kronos, and Taleo strongly preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state laws surrounding employment, workers compensation, human relations and ability to apply knowledge to specific situations.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, time management kills, organizational skills, customer service skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required License/Certification
Certifications:
PHR, SHRM-CP or Certified Benefits Specialist preferred.
Licenses: Valid driver’s license and transportation for use on the job
Minimum Work Experience
At least two to three years of full-time paid experience in Human Resources, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Minimum Education
Knowledge in the operation of standard office equipment such as copier, fax, printer, calculator.
Knowledge of use of Word, Excel and Powerpoint, Internet, MS Outlook.
