Part Time Medicaid Billing Clerk

Position Summary:
Provides general clerical support for Medicaid matters and to provide professional, effective and efficient service assistance to the Wythe County Public School System.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possesses a high school diploma or GED certificate; associate’s degree or higher preferred
- Medical knowledge and Medicaid billing data entry skills is desirable
- Electronic billing experience is preferred
- Knowledge of division regulations and policies, especially as they pertain to financial record keeping
- Knowledge of current office procedures and practices
- Computer literate, proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the Google Suite for collaboration
- Functional knowledge of commonly used office equipment and work-flow technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to keyboard accurately and make arithmetical calculations
- Dependable and punctual
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive personal documents and file
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
- Process Medicaid billing, including the management and coordination of all aspects of standard documentation required by the Department of Education and Department of Medical Assistance in qualifying as a recipient of Medicaid funds.
- Provide medical billing services to Wythe County Public Schools in the following areas:
- Special Education Department
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Psychological/Counseling Services
- Transportation
- Cost-Based Reporting
- School Health Services Nursing Department
- Nursing Services
- Follow the regulations of the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Service in School Medicaid Billing.
- Process claims for payment, prepare all reports pertaining to Medicaid, maintain source data, and support Medicaid billing.
- Assist the Director of Special Education with preparing all reports pertaining to Medicaid, including quarterly reports to the State.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of all Medicaid files and records.
- Attend workshops and seminars regarding current Medicaid policies and regulations as approved by the Director of Special Education.
- Maintain direct contact with all agencies connected to the Virginia Medicaid Program and report relevant information to appropriate staff.
- Management and coordination of all aspects of standard documentation required by the Department of Education and Department of Medical Assistance in qualifying as a recipient of Medicaid funds.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
210-DAY CONTRACT SALARY BASED ON THE ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/PAYROLL ASSISTANT SALARY SCALE
