Job Description
The Sr. Data Engineer will maintain the reporting warehouse database, including creating new procedures, functions and views as needed. They will update automation scripts with new procedures where needed, monitor automation jobs and make changes to SQL procedures to minimize execution time. Collaborate with others to determine the optimal way to present data in a format they can use in reports.
Responsibilities
Expand data warehouse and analytics capabilities
Transform program data for use in reporting warehouse
Collaborate with stakeholders and report designers for new requests and changes
Monitor emails from automation and handle errors when they happen
Monitor server performance
Watch for poorly designed queries that can be optimized.
If refresh cycles start taking too long look for any optimizations to reduce execution time.
Data analysis to answer questions and issues with the data
Prioritize tasks in work queue
Handle necessary automation to keep data warehouse updated with daily, hourly, and in few cases, live updates
Daily Pulse Dashboards support includes a lot of comparisons of day over day or month over month activity
Work with external vendors for regulatory (FCC) reporting
Experience / Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, or a related field
5-9 years of hands-on data engineering experience
Strong SQL skills
PostgreSQL experience
Strong database design skills.
Strong query optimization skills
Basic Linux / MacOS script skills
Familiarity with GIT
Familiarity with cron to schedule jobs
Experience with python preferred
MacOS experience preferred
