Security Guard (Armed/Unarmed)
Job Summary:
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for clients, employees, and visitors. This role involves monitoring premises, preventing theft or vandalism, and responding to emergencies. The position may require the use of firearms for armed guards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Regularly patrol assigned areas to deter and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and alarms, responding promptly to any incidents.
2. Access Control:
- Manage entry and exit points, verifying credentials of individuals entering the premises.
- Control access to restricted areas and enforce safety regulations.
3. Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergencies, including fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches.
- Provide first aid or CPR as needed and assist emergency services when they arrive.
4. Incident Reporting:
- Document and report incidents, including thefts, disturbances, or accidents.
- Prepare detailed reports for management and law enforcement as required.
5. Customer Service:
- Greet and assist visitors, providing information and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Address and resolve any complaints or concerns from clients or the public.
6. Compliance and Training:
- Adhere to all security policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and drills, especially for armed guards regarding the safe handling of firearms.
Qualifications:
- Unarmed Security Guards:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Complete a 40-hour training course from a BSIS-licensed facility.
- Obtain a Security Guard Registration Card (Guard Card) from BSIS.
- Complete 8 hours of ongoing training each year.
- Armed Security Guards:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Pass a more extensive background check.
- Complete a 14-hour training course specific to armed security.
- Obtain a Firearm Permit from BSIS after passing a written exam and shooting proficiency test.
- Complete 8 hours of ongoing firearms education every two years.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically fit to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
