Job: Experienced Solidworks Mechanical Designer
Location: Huntsville, AL (onsite)
About the Role: As a Solidworks Mechanical Designer, you will have a key role in supporting the design of solid rocket motors and sub-orbital launch vehicle systems.
You'll know you're successful in this role when you've streamlined the process of conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design and drawing release within the PDM and established a workflow that syncs design backlog with schedule driven design completion.
You will serve as the responsible designer ensuring continuity in drawings, models, GD&T, revision control and change requests. To thrive in this role, have at least 3 years industry experience working within SolidWorks mechanical design and an aptitude for methods of fabrication and off-the-shelf solutions for mechanical/structural/fluidic systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in the clean sheet design of mechanical/structural/fluidic elements required in aerospace systems
- Demonstrated experience in the clean sheet design of custom tooling and fixtures to support operations in compliance with industry practice
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, additive manufacturing, casting, sheet metal forming, etc.
- Understanding of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, high temperature materials, composites
- 3 years experience with Solidworks CAD and PDM is required
- Demonstrated mastery of large assemblies, 3D models, GD&T, drawings for manufacture
- Experience working within interdisciplinary teams of less than 10 people
- Comfortable splitting time between office and production environments
- Enthusiastic to fill needs outside of your immediate job scope
- Must be a US Persons as defined by § 120.62 of the ITAR
