Job Description:
The Lead GNC Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, test, and operation of guidance, navigation, and control systems for launch vehicles and missile systems at X-Bow. This role requires expertise in GNC architecture, flight software development, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation, and system analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace engineering, control systems, and embedded software development, as well as experience leading technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
· Define system requirements and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
· Design and develop GNC architectures for launch vehicles and missile systems.
· Develop and implement GNC flight software for real-time control of launch vehicles and missiles.
· Lead the development and execution of software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations. Validate GNC algorithms and system performance through simulation and testing.
· Perform detailed analysis of vehicle dynamics, control algorithms, and system performance.
· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary engineering team.
· Provide technical guidance and coordination to vendors and industry partners
· Collaborate with other departments, including propulsion, avionics, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless integration of GNC systems.
· Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, test plans, and analysis results.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
· 5 years of experience in GNC systems development for aerospace applications.
· Proficiency in GNC algorithm design, including Kalman filtering, trajectory optimization, and control theory.
· Experience with flight software development using C/C
· Familiarity with Python or Matlab/Simulink for data analysis and visualization, and control system analysis.
· Hands-on experience with SIL and HIL simulation environments.
· Knowledge of launch vehicle dynamics and missile systems.
Desired Qualifications:
· Master's or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
· Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
· Experience with sensor integration, including IMUs and GPS.
· Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements for aerospace systems.
· Familiarity with launch range safety analysis and flight safety requirements
