Job Description:
- Management and motivation of supervisors and warehouse staff through effective and efficient leadership
- Support the development of direct reports by identifying training opportunities and setting performance expectations.
- Work with Operations Supervisors to adjust and schedule staff according to production needs while being mindful of the financial impact of labor cost.
- Use effective personnel management skills to resolve employee complaints in a prompt, ethical, and fair manner.
- Use a high level of customer service and coordinate with multiple departments to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery.
- Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment by following and supporting all internal safety procedures, compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations, and investigating and reporting all incidents of safety violations or injuries.
- Identify potential problems and implement solutions using collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Manage the logistics plan of the facility, including company trucks and common carriers.
- Utilize reporting and production metrics in establishment of best practices and benchmarking.
- Implement and support continuous productivity improvements using LEAN methodologies.
- Oversee maintenance of the facility, grounds, and equipment
- Use internal systems to manage the scheduling of material flow through the facility.
- Assist in the development of annual budget, capital expenditure plan, and forecast.
- Manage operational expenses to provide lowest cost solutions.
- Be available to respond to any crisis, i.e., alarm system activated, injured personnel, or machinery breakdown/malfunction.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an operations or Warehouse Manager
- At least 5 years of management experience in the metals distribution industry preferred.
