Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the company’s IT infrastructure. You will ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical systems and services. While experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), particularly Omnissa (VMware) Horizon, is not required, it is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have expertise in network administration, server management, and security best practices, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:
- System Setup & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), and network devices.
- Ensure continuous system uptime and performance by performing regular maintenance, updates, and patches.
- Network Administration:
- Manage and maintain local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and other related systems.
- Configure firewalls, routers, switches, and other network devices to ensure optimal performance and security.
- User Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for system users, resolving issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity.
- Assist in the installation and configuration of software and applications.
- Security Management:
- Monitor and ensure system security through routine audits, firewalls, antivirus software, and other security measures.
- Perform regular backups, disaster recovery, and manage data security protocols.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor system performance, network traffic, and storage resources to ensure efficiency.
- Provide regular reports on system health, incidents, and upgrades.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for network and system configurations, policies, procedures, and changes.
- Ensure that all systems comply with relevant industry standards and internal policies.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with other IT professionals and teams to integrate, troubleshoot, and enhance systems and services.
- Participate in IT projects and recommend improvements for system architecture.
- VDI Management (Preferred):
- If applicable, assist with the administration and troubleshooting of Omnissa (VMware) Horizon or other VDI environments.
- Help optimize VDI performance and manage resources for virtual desktop solutions.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, Unix).
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
- Experience with Omnissa (VMware) Horizon or other VDI solutions is a plus, but not required.
- Certifications (optional, but preferred):
- CompTIA Network
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Azure
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-technical staff.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education, Experience and Pay:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience in system administration, network management, or IT support.
- Proven experience with server management (Windows, Linux), databases, and network configuration.
- Pay is commensurate to education and experience within similar roles. It can range from $54,500-$100,000.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Full-time position based at our office locations; remote work is not available.
- Occasional travel may be required to remote offices or data centers.
- Stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day.
- Use hand and fingers to type and conduct computer tasks for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work in a dusty, hot environment for up to 10 hours per day.
- Ability to work on-call or outside regular hours for system maintenance or troubleshooting when necessary.
Salary : $54,500 - $100,000
