What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Technician ( Contract,Temp) position at X-Ray Optical Systems (XOS)?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for assembly consumables, subassemblies, and/or analyzers within the XOS analyzer product group. The individual is expected to work closely with the production team, specifically in the assembly, modification and documentation of components and processes. This role will be in East Greenbush, NY and will last for a period of 4 - 6 months.
Responsibilities:
- Assembly and test of x-ray analyzers including general mechanical assembly of sub components and/or consumables to achieve this end.
- Maintains tools through daily 5S activities.
- Follows detailed work instructions, completes data entry for process travelers, and documents any relevant production test data.
- Maintains workstation cleanliness and operational effectiveness of alignment and assembly work areas.
- Participates in daily reporting through visual management and meetings to communicate and escalate issues with performance metrics – SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) at Tier 1
- As needed, works with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team during roll out of new products to the manufacturing floor.
- Participates in the execution of process improvements and the development of assembly procedures within the assembly work areas.

Required Skills/Experience:
- Develops skills to perform basic, repetitive and manual activities in the job; impacts the quality of own work.
- Good mechanical aptitude with wiring experience.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to work with patience, follow detail procedures and use those procedures to make pass/fail decisions at critical points within the alignment processes. Work is prescribed and completed with close supervision.
- With training, performs basic ERP transactions
Desired Skills/Experience:
· 2 years hands on manufacturing experience in a similar environment, assembling capital equipment.
Education
- Associates Degree in Physics or Engineering is preferred. Associates Degree in other STEM fields considered or student pursuing said degree.
