Summary
As the Air Force Public Key Infrastructure System Program Office (AF PKI SPO) Liaison Officer (LNO) to the Secretary of the Air Force Office of the Chief Information Officer (SAF/CN), enhances collaboration, streamlines communications, and fosters a strong partnership between the PKI SPO and SAF/CN to ensure PKI requirements are captured, understood and supported at AF Senior Leadership level. The ideal candidate will excel in communications both written and oral; be an experienced and versatile leader possessing a strong balance of analytical, operational, and technical knowledge. Able to leverage research skills and synthesize subject matter expertise into staff documents. Provide effective communication to influence AF PKI policy and strategy. Must be detail-oriented, organized, a self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize and execute workload aligned with PKI SPO goals and objectives as specified by the PKI PM. Demonstrate an outgoing demeanor to engage across organizations to establish a shared vision associated with the critical role PKI plays in AF cybersecurity posture.
Primary Responsibilities
PKI LNO at SAF/CN responsibilities include:
- Enhance collaboration to facilitate seamless interaction and cooperation between our offices to ensure that AF PKI technical requirements and new initiatives are appropriately represented in SAF/CN strategies and policies.
- Streamline communication to establish clear channels of communication to address and resolve staffing obstacles promptly, thereby increasing efficiency
- Foster partnerships to develop strong working relationships that leverage each organization's strengths, ensuring mission success and mutual benefits
- Promote sharing of critical information and best practices to leverage PKI in improving the AF cybersecurity posture,
- Develop and promote Air Force and DoD PKI security policies, strategies, and implementation plans
- Maintain a robust knowledge of AF PKI SPO Product/Services Portfolio
- Advise SAF/CN of PKI initiatives by connecting appropriate Identity Branch (HNID) elements with SAF/CN elements
- Represent PKI SPO interests at relevant SAF/CN battle rhythm events
- Research and create cyber security position briefs aligned to PKI goals and objectives for
- DAF CIO leadership on a regular basis
- Act as the DAF CIO subject matter expert for the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Program
- Develop DAF Policy in sync with DoD PKI policies, STIGs, and NIST Guidelines
- Support the tracking of DAF PKI compliance: develop and/or support PKI-related IT Portfolio System (ITIPS) database templates, processes and rules; brief MAJCOM portfolio managers; draft monthly PKI slide for SECAF; and highlight DAF PKI SPO successes
- Analyze, coordinate, and prepare PKI official DAF CIO responses to DoD CIO, Office of Management and Budget, and SECAF leadership; and prepare and manage DAF CIO PKI taskings to MAJCOMS
- DAF policy lead for Coalition PKI and develop processes and solutions for audits and training
- Research and coordinate Common Access Card (CAC) processes and architectures to support multiple Air Force efforts
- DAF CIO SME for the AF migration to new Cryptographic Algorithms, to include development of white papers on AF systems and network capabilities to interoperate with SHA-256 and SHA-384 as the DAF works towards Quantum computing
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate/coordinate AF PKI policy, requirements, taskers with Air Force Senior leadership and various AF organizations, Major Commands and key external stakeholders
- Ability to work with a wide variety of contributors in a fast-paced and demanding environment is essential
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Access, Publisher, Visio, SharePoint, Project), and Service Now
Education/Experience
- Master of Business Administration in Marketing & Finance, Communications or relevant work experience
Required licenses or certifications
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Information Systems
- Security Management (ISSMP) is desired but not required
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or other project management certification desired but not required
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
