Job Description: Supervisor: Foreman Job Description: Responsible for smoothing out, leveling and finishing freshly poured concrete at job or construction sites. Perform repairs on cures concrete. Essential functions and responsibilities: Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure concrete surfaces Set and check the forms that hold concrete to ensure they are well constructed Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float. Mold expansion joints Pour concrete ensuring that it is level and smooth Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute to direct concrete on forms Mix and apply cementitious materials for the repair of surface defects in cured concrete Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor Requirements: Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications Move throughout a construction jobsite which includes minor obstacles including climbing ladders and inclines, operating heavy equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds Safety Policies and Practices: The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual. Education: less than High School Diploma. Experience: three or more years related construction experience preferred. Physical Activity Level: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature. Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials. Working Conditions: Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.) Work Environment: The work environment/physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
