Summary
- The purpose of the Service Technician is to perform repair, calibration, conversion, field service, training, and demonstration activities. Service Technicians are required to travel as scheduled for work at offsite locations. Service Technicians also perform general tasks related to toolbox fabrication, inventory, and provide backup support to other positions.
Description of Duties
- Inspects and repairs tools both in the shop and the field. Performs in-house calibration of tools.
- Travels (up to 40% of the time) to customer sites and offshore to operate tooling on their applications.
- Enters repair information into the computer to make service reports, including tracking of parts used from stock.
- Modifies and prepares toolboxes for tool kits, including painting and applying decals as needed.
- Packs and unpacks booth and tools for various trade shows.
- Responsible for keeping records of inventory used for repairs and assists with physical inventory counting.
- Answers phones and interacts with customers as needed to provide customer service.
- Travels (up to 40% of the time) to customer sites and offshore to perform training, offer demonstrations, and support the sales activity of the company.
- Performs product conversions according to production orders as required.
Must have
- Strong hands-on skills for inspecting, repairing, and calibrating tools and mechanical systems (especially hydraulic or torque tools).
- Ability to operate technical equipment at customer sites and offshore environments, including setting up and troubleshooting tooling applications.
- Understanding of calibration procedures and standards to ensure tools are functioning accurately.
- Familiarity with electrical components and systems (if applicable to the tools) for diagnosing and performing minor electrical repairs or adjustments.
- MS Office Proficiency
- Skill in modifying, assembling, and preparing toolkits, including painting, labelling, and organizing tools properly.
- Ability to track parts used, maintain inventory records, and assist in physical inventory counts.
- Knowledge of production processes to perform product conversions according to specifications.
- Competence in demonstrating tool use and training customers on equipment in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Understanding of workplace safety procedures and compliance standards, especially for field and offshore environments.
