What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Design Engineer position at X4 Engineering?
We are working with a leading Engineering firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina who are looking for an Electrical Substation Engineer to support their Energy Business Line. In this role, there is the flexibility to work remote, hybrid or be located in Raleigh (relocation assistance would be provided).
Job Responsibilities :
- Electrical Engineering Leadership : Lead design for transmission systems, power distribution, and renewable energy projects, including substations, EV charging networks, and microgrid designs.
- Substation Design & Technical Ownership : Manage physical design, arrangement drawings, equipment specifications, schematics, and diagrams for high voltage (4kV-230kV) and EHV (above 230kV) substations, including AIS, GIS, and FACTS.
- Design Documentation & Calculations : Develop electrical lists, cable schedules, grounding plans, power distribution designs, and perform technical calculations for cable, transformer, and grounding sizing, as well as power system studies.
- Project Management & Quality Assurance : Lead construction, startup, and commissioning efforts while reviewing engineering work and ensuring high-quality deliverables across multiple projects.
- Client Engagement & Continuous Improvement : Assist in identifying key client interests, support continuous improvement, and engage in occasional travel to client or project sites.
