What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Analyst position at X4 Engineering?

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing major player within the commodities trading industry as a Power Analyst. They have a a portfolio of renewable energy portfolios, including hydro, wind, and solar power plants. In the long-run, this role will lead to the trading desk or origination, based upon your preferences.
- Develop an understanding of congestion pricing, grid topology and power factors that contribute to real-time price formation (weather, dispatch, load, fuel, outages, transmission, etc.).
- Develop models and dashboards to help understand, forecast, and visualize power supply/demand balances
- Provide ad hoc analyses for the trading desk and provide timely and tradable analyses.
- Provide daily reports and participate in weekly meetings.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a role analyzing the power markets.
- Experience in PJM and ERCOT (beneficial). There is also a focus on MISO, NYISO, NE-ISO).
- Proficiency in Python.
- SQL
- Data Visualization tools e.g. PowerBI
- Natural Gas experience (desirable).
- Experience with RECs and PPAs (desirable).
- Understand of changes in regulations and how they affect the market.
This role is based in downtown Houston and they work on a hybrid model. Compensation offered is in the region of $150,000-$200,000 with additional bonus compensation dependent on company performance.
