Job Title: Project Engineer (Electrical Engineer) – Renewables and Substation Design

Job Description:
Our Client is seeking a Project Engineer with a string background in Electrical Engineering. The Project Engineer will lead and mentor a team of junior engineers, designers, and CAD operators in the design and implementation of General/Physical Layout and Protection & Control packages for renewable energy and substation projects.
As the lead engineer for the majority of the team’s work, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality project deliverables. In addition, this role will involve managing customer relationships, handling business development, and overseeing ongoing and future project plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, CAD designers, and other team members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing both current projects and fostering future business opportunities.
- Demonstrate expertise in various areas including Solar/Wind Farm design, Battery Storage systems, substation design, and utility interconnection engineering, with a focus on physical layout design, protection/control/SCADA systems, relay settings programming, field support, commissioning, and relay testing.
- Lead and perform project design tasks, including engineering calculations, the use of computer-aided design software, and the application of appropriate engineering standards, procedures, and manuals.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed project documentation, including specifications and bid documents.
- Review and mark up complex drawings to ensure that plan sets are accurate, clear, and represent the design intent effectively.
- Assist in training and development of lower-level Project Engineers (I and II).
- Proficiently use Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Foster positive working relationships and collaboration across all organizational levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.) is required.
- At least 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
