Manage the maintenance and repair of entire Grand Canyon Railway Hotel facilities utilizing crafts trades personnel safely and efficiently ensuring minimum downtime

Responsibilities

• Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
• Manages the facilities crafts trade’s personnel in the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department.
• Ensure that work orders are being properly assigned and completed promptly, and work order paperwork is properly completed.
• Provides technical assistance to the crafts personnel as necessary.
• Interviews and select facilities crafts personnel from applications provided by Human Resources.
• Provides recommendations for promotions of craft personnel to higher grades.
• Completes employee annual reviews promptly for all assigned personnel and submits to the Director of Capital Projects and Maintenance for review and submission to the Operations General Manager.
• Communicates the status of work orders to department heads as requested by the department.
• Prepares written and administered timely disciplinary action following Human Relation Policies and Procedures.
• Coordinates with Risk Management, follow-up and completion of noted life safety work orders.
• Works closely with the Department of Sustainability in providing training programs for all facilities staff.
• Communicates with Tool Room Attendant on parts order status and availability, inventory and ordering.
• Ensures that assigned vehicles are going in for preventive maintenance and scheduled service.
• Ensures that Predictive and Preventive Maintenance is being followed for all designated equipment.
• Solicitations of bids and preparation of blanket agreements for emergency maintenance and routine services for Fire Suppression and Alarms, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Landscape Services and Herbicide Applications.
• Ensures that staff is following all prescribed Company and statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, risk management, environmental policies, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, confined space, lockout-tagout and vehicle operation.
• Attends Monthly Department Head meetings.
• Works with Director of Capital Projects and Maintenance on capital projects including writing scopes, bidding, and project supervision.
• Works closely with management and supervisory staff to ensure that personnel are effectively and continually being monitored and evaluated to ensure an individual’s performance is at an acceptable level; ensures supervisors provide input in the preparation of performance evaluations and ensures the issuances of HIG’s are performed following the appropriate timeline established by the Department, and submitting them into HR promptly.
• Ensures that Kronos (timekeeping system) is monitored is currently daily for the entire department. Ensure Kronos is verified daily by 10 AM timekeeping and the entire payroll is completed for payroll period end (PPE).
• Monitors the weather forecast and the preparation of the Department’s Snow Operation Plan a day before an approaching weather event.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Five years minimum supervisory or foreman experience in building construction, construction maintenance or maintenance engineering-type operations.
• Journeyman certification in one of the following trades; electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or refrigeration/HVAC.
• Working knowledge of the Uniform Building Codes.
• Thorough knowledge of supervision of the main crafts trades including electrician, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and refrigeration/HVAC.
• Experience in scheduling thirty-plus staff for seven day a week, two-shift operation.
• Proficient with Word, Excel and Outlook software, plus possess good verbal and written communication skills with ability to give instructions clearly.
• Possess and maintain a valid and clear Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra/Grand Canyon Railway Company Vehicle Policy.
• Must possess physical ability and agility to ascend/descend ladders and scaffolding, enter confined spaces, and tour construction areas.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience with CMMS system.
• Knowledge of rooms and hotel layout on GCR property, including general knowledge of Xanterra Grand Canyon Railway guest services with the ability to convey information to the guests.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, walking, sitting, handling, wrist motion, bending/ stooping, frequently handling and reaching outward, and occasionally reaching above shoulder, squatting bending and kneeling.
• Occasionally carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50lbs.
• Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
