Job Summary:

The park-wide Locksmith is based out of Mammoth Hot Springs but spends the majority of their time traveling to, from and working at Xanterra operated facilities throughout Yellowstone National Park. The park-wide Locksmith is responsible for overseeing the development, operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of all Xanterra Facility lock systems and key plans. If you have a passion for nature and want to be a part of a great Engineering Team, this may be a great opportunity for you!

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: Discussed during interview
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

• Responsible for providing oversight, training, and technical support to location locksmiths and maintenance teams.
• Leading the development, periodic review, and continuous improvement of Lock and Key systems Planned Maintenance (PM) procedures.
• Coordinates lock and key issues with outside contractors, NPS, and all Xanterra departments to ensure company Key Policy guidelines are followed.
• Documenting repair parts, inventory usage, labor, materials, and asset management actions in the company’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Providing assistance and oversight of the cyclic opening and closing of buildings, specifically the proper startup, shut-down, and lay-up of building lock systems and key inventory.
• Assisting with the in-house review, comment, and inspection of project key plan designs, proposals and installations.
• May, on occasion, be called upon after hours to provide emergency access to buildings or rooms within buildings.

• Must be a Certified Registered Locksmith with 2 years of locksmith experience in the hospitality industry or obtain Advanced, Commercial, and Institutional Locksmith Certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Experience with RFID, Bluetooth, and Card Access electronic lock system. Experience with electronic bolt, strike, and magnetic locks preferred.
• Proficiency in lock-picking and re-keying/re-programming mechanical and electronic lock systems.
• Be proficient in the operation and use of common locksmith equipment and tools.
• Possess above average personal computer skills and be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of office software, Electronic Key Plan software, and CMMS.
• Be able to read, understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Be capable of and willing to advance his or her locksmith knowledge and expertise through on-the-job training and self-study.
• Must be able and willing to drive a service vehicle through wilderness areas between developed areas of the Park in variable driving conditions.
• Must be able and willing to respond to after-hours and off-shift service requests.
• Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.

Physical Requirements include:

• This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations.
• Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
• Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related work in an outside environment.
• Standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, for extended periods of time is required.
