Job Summary:
This is a full time year round position located in Williams Arizona! The Railcar Mechanic is responsible for heavy repairs and rebuilding of passenger and maintaining the passenger car fleet by inspecting, performing necessary maintenance and repair of railway cars in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring train cars meet expectations, and are safe and suitable for passengers.

Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $19.65
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Fully understands and supports Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Troubleshoots problems and performs repairs and rebuilding of passenger cars, this includes but is not limited to: painting, sanding, sandblasting, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Troubleshoots problems and performs heavy Mechanical repairs and rebuilding of passenger cars, this includes but is not limited to operation of heavy machinery such as; overhead crane, drop table, Drill press, band saw and all forms of power tools.
- Maintains a neat, clean and organized work area.
- Works in a safe manner and maintains compliance with all prescribed Company, statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, vehicle operation, risk management, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, DOT and FRA regulations.
- Maintains quality of company tools and equipment, immediately reports broken or damaged equipment to the manager on duty.
- Meets mandatory deadlines, completes work in a timely and accurate manner, ensures train cars meet expectations, and are safe and suitable for passengers.
- Understands and complies with all Company environmental management and control of hazardous materials and waste procedures, Maintains awareness and up to date training with respect to the potential hazards associated with this position and operation.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum one-year previous experience in mechanical or construction trades such as; carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, painting, etc.
- Possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
- Frequently standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, bending/stooping lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs. Twisting, using eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, using wrist motion, and ascending and descending ladder.
- Occasionally sitting, lifting/carrying up to 100lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 100lbs.
- Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
- Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces and onboard moving equipment.
