- Collaborate with General Manager, Corporate Risk Manager and business stakeholders in executing a safety program that promotes teamwork and demonstrates that commitment necessary to meet the standards set forth by law, the Corporate Safety and Risk Policies and general Safety Management best practices.
- Review and ensure compliance with contractual requirements related to risk and safety, working with relevant stakeholders to track and meet those obligations.
- Review and provide assistance in the development of accident-prevention and loss control systems, incorporating them into organizational policies.
- Conduct regular safety and regulatory inspections across properties and locations, documenting findings and ensuring compliance.
- Respond to incidents as a first responder or in support of first responders, gathering pertinent information and witness statements as needed. Train department managers and supervisors to also respond to incidents in the same and consistent manner.
- Identify high-priority risk areas and partner with management to develop and implement effective solutions.
- Oversee security for designated areas, including the supervision of seasonal dormitory security personnel.
- Report on safety performance metrics to management regularly, ensuring progress on safety-related initiatives.
- Partner with department managers to assess and develop specific safety and risk training needs.
- Facilitate ongoing safety training for employees, including new hire orientation, and regular safety refreshers to ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.
- Lead and manage the onsite workers’ compensation program, including reporting, investigations, case management, and OSHA 300 compliance.
- Utilize company tools and systems to document, track, and resolve safety improvement areas and trainings.
- Work with sustainability and maintenance teams to ensure Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals are up to date.
- Lead crisis response tabletop exercises to ensure effective preparedness for emergency situations.
- Oversee the Safety Committee, managing member recruitment, meeting organization, task delegation, and progress follow-ups with department managers.
- Attend meetings hosted by the National Park Service relating to risk and safety topics.
- Promote a culture sustainability, safety, resilience, and preparedness.
- Understand and actively support Company’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Sustainability efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum two years’ experience as a risk or safety supervisory, preferably in a hospitality setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Occupational Safety and Risk Management preferred; or an additional five years risk and safety supervisory experience in lieu of degree.
- Possession of a valid US driver’s license and clean driving record in the last 3 years.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must demonstrate maturity, a professional demeanor, good judgement, diplomacy, objectivity, and sound conflict/crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures, standards, and company and governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information, communicate and respond to questions in a factual, positive, and professional manner.
- Willing to “pitch-in” and help the team with tasks.
- Must be a positive team player with flexible schedules who like to have fun and have the passion to work.
Physical Requirements include:
Constantly standing and walking.
Frequently sitting, handling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 12 pounds.
Occasionally reaching outward, reaching over shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting/carrying 11-50 pounds, and pusing/pulling 13-40 pounds.
