Job Summary
The Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM) at Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) serves as a senior leader responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of undergraduate and graduate admissions, recruitment, and enrollment efforts. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the AVPEM collaborates with university leadership, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to develop and implement innovative strategies to attract and retain a diverse, highly qualified student body aligned with Xavier’s mission and values as a premier Catholic and Historically Black College and University (HBCU).
This role provides leadership for undergraduate admissions while also overseeing graduate admissions and recruitment efforts. The AVPEM works closely with Graduate Preprogram Directors and the Office of Graduate Programs to enhance Xavier’s graduate enrollment initiatives and support the university’s commitment to academic excellence and social justice. Minimum Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management, with leadership and managerial responsibilities.
- Familiarity with integrated marketing and communication strategies for higher education.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner, Slate CRM, or similar data management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data for decision-making.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to Xavier’s mission and values.
- Ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- 5–10 years of experience in higher education admissions or enrollment management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience recruiting graduate and international students.

Key Responsibilities:
I. Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive enrollment strategies for undergraduate and graduate programs that align with Xavier’s institutional goals, values, and mission.
- Collaborate with university leadership, academic deans, and program directors to establish enrollment targets and strategies for undergraduate and graduate populations.
- Monitor and respond to emerging trends, best practices, and market demands in undergraduate and graduate recruitment to maintain Xavier’s competitive edge.
- Oversee and manage the office of Admissions’ budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and fiscal responsibility.
II. Recruitment and Outreach:
- Lead innovative recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of talented undergraduate and graduate students, including first-generation college students and those committed to Xavier’s mission.
- Collaborate with Xavier’s marketing and communications team to design and implement effective multi-channel communication strategies tailored to prospective undergraduate and graduate students.
- Represent Xavier at college fairs, graduate recruitment fairs, community events, and other relevant venues to promote the university and its programs.
- Foster relationships with high schools, community colleges, professional organizations, and other feeder institutions to build strong pipelines for undergraduate and graduate enrollment.
III. Admissions Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of undergraduate and graduate admissions offices, ensuring streamlined processes that deliver exceptional experiences for prospective students.
- Develop and implement admissions policies and procedures that prioritize transparency, fairness, and compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Coordinate closely with Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, Housing, and the Office of Graduate Programs to integrate admissions and enrollment processes seamlessly.
- Ensure compliance with Title IV regulations and other relevant policies affecting undergraduate and graduate admissions.
IV. Graduate Admissions and Recruitment:
- Develop and execute targeted strategies to recruit domestic and international graduate students, working in close collaboration with Graduate Preprogram Directors and the Office of Graduate Programs.
- Align graduate recruitment efforts with program-specific goals and enhance outreach to professional organizations and associations.
- Utilize data-driven approaches and innovative practices to increase graduate enrollment while maintaining high academic standards.
V. Staff Management and Development:
- Lead and supervise admissions teams for both undergraduate and graduate admissions, fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and inclusivity.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set measurable goals, and provide professional development opportunities to enhance team effectiveness.
- Ensure admissions staff are equipped with the skills and tools needed to meet enrollment objectives and deliver superior service to prospective students.
VI. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Leverage data to assess the effectiveness of recruitment and admissions strategies for undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Analyze enrollment trends, demographics, and other key metrics to inform decision-making and long-term planning.
- Prepare detailed reports on admissions activities, outcomes, and projections for university stakeholders, including senior leadership.
