Job Summary
Xavier University of Louisiana is seeking to hire a Coordinator of the Mathematics Resource Center (MRC). The Coordinator of the Mathematics Resource Center (MRC), positioned in Xavier University’s Office of Academic Student Support, will manage the day-to-day operations of the Mathematics Resource Center, including providing oversight for the student tutors and staff of the Mathematics Resource Center. The Coordinator of the Mathematics Resource Center (MRC) will also tutor students and will coordinate all academic programs provided by the Mathematics Resource Center. The Mathematics Resource Center is a collaborative learning environment responsible for providing students the necessary academic support to improve math skills through tutoring, workshops and other academic programming. Minimum Qualifications
- Two to 3 years of teaching experience or formal tutoring experience in a Mathematics tutoring center, preferably at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or STEM related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3 to 5 years of experience tutoring, and/or teaching Mathematics
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment
- Excellent oral, written communication skills, and organizational skills
Special Requirements Summary
Local and regional travel required.
Work Hours
Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week.
Some evenings and weekends are required.

Knowledge, Education, Experience, and Proficiencies
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics or STEM related discipline
- Two to 3 years of teaching experience or formal tutoring experience in a Mathematics tutoring center, preferably at the college level.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description
- Work with the Director of Academic Support to provide oversight for the Mathematics Resource Center and ensure learning outcomes set by Departmental Faculty Liaisons are implemented and met.
- Provide direct tutoring and conduct review sessions to currently enrolled students at Xavier University of Louisiana
- Provide direct tutoring for Developmental Mathematics, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Introductory Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, and Basic Statistics courses
- Coordinate all activities, meetings, and services provided by the MRC
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and train MRC student tutors
- Monitor and maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment for tutoring and resource center.
- Create, gather, and report data and documentation for the Office of Student Success.
- Promote the MRC to the college community, including establishing and maintaining lines of communication with students and the Mathematics Department
- Other Duties as assigned
