Xavier University of Louisiana is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate with a master's or doctorate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Sociology, Gerontology) to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, a keen understanding of health disparities, and experience in aging-related research. The Research Associate will contribute to an impactful research project on population health aging, cognitive function, and neighborhood factors. They will work in a collaborative and inclusive research environment, mentor students, collaborate on grant writing efforts, and engage in professional development. Additionally, this position offers an opportunity to teach one or more public health undergraduate or master's level courses. This position is based on campus. AA/EOE

Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate or master's degree (minimum 3-5 years of experience) in Public Health, Sociology, Gerontology, or a related field.
- Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in using statistical software [e.g., Stata (preferred), R, or SAS] and population health data analysis techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health disparities and aging-related issues.
- Proven ability to conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in manuscript and presentation development.
- Commitment to mentoring diverse students and fostering a supportive research environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience in interdisciplinary research settings.
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in grant writing and securing research funding.
- Experience mentoring and/or teaching undergraduate/graduate students

- Data Analysis: Conduct statistical analyses using complex datasets related to health disparities and aging.
- Research Development & Execution: Assist in the design, implementation, and management of research projects focused on health disparities, aging, and related areas. Interpret and communicate research findings effectively.
- Grant Writing: Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals to secure funding for research projects and professional development activities.
- Literature Reviews: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support ongoing research projects and identify gaps in current knowledge.
- Manuscript Writing: Prepare high-quality manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Conference Presentations: Develop and present research findings at academic conferences and other relevant meetings.
- Student Mentoring and Teaching: Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students involved in research projects, fostering their development and skills in research methodologies. Based on interest, serve as instructor for undergraduate or master's level public health courses.
