Xavier University’s Division of Mission and Ministry is seeking applications for an Executive Director of Operations. The Executive Director is responsible for leading the integration of multiple centers of formation and several longstanding mission and identity programs that serve administrators, faculty, and staff. As a key leader in our division, the Executive Director of Operations will lead, manage and coordinate complex projects, develop, and implement change management strategies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to adapt formation programing to respond to the changing environment of Higher Education with the distinctive characteristics of the Jesuit Catholic tradition.
About The Division Of Mission And Ministry
The Division of Mission and Ministry is composed of two major centers, one that is faculty/staff facing (Center for Mission and Identity) and the other that is student facing (Center for Faith and Justice). The Center for Mission and Identity engages faculty, staff and administrators to form them through Ignatian spirituality and the distinctive components of Jesuit Catholic Higher Education. Xavier’s mission-aligned sustainability efforts through the Laudato Si’ Action Plan are also housed in the division. Additionally, the Center for Mission and Identity runs the XU’s most popular website, www.jesuitresource.org, which provides digital and print resources related to Jesuit education and spirituality across the globe.

Job Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
- Supports the Vice President of Mission and Ministry through coordination and project management supporting re-imagination of the division and renewal of the full menu of mission formation opportunities across the campus.
- Provides significant support to the Board of Trustees Jesuit Mission and Identity Committee.
- Supports the Vice President of Mission and Ministry to drive effective change management in the division and beyond.
- Supervises and directs staff in daily work and divisional goals, including Jesuit Scholars, faculty director, associate directors.
- Manage budgets and endowments in accordance divisional goals and priorities.
- Manages planning and logistics for formation programing of faculty and staff, including but not limited to orientation/Manresa, AFMIX program, network leadership participation (AJCU leadership, ICP, Province leadership, Collegium, etc.), bible study and other opportunities for Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit Catholic leadership training.
- Coordinates division staff and area experts to support mission leadership programs for administrative leaders.
- Collaborates with offices/departments to develop mission-related resources to assist them with their work.
- Provides leadership and direction, and serves as a campus liaison for Xavier faculty and staff participation in the Jesuit and Catholic networks and other mission leadership programming.
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Minimum of 8 years-experience in higher education.
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems effectively, especially under pressure.
- Broad experience in Board of Trustees operations.
- Demonstrated experience in project management (coordinating and managing).
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, navigate complex situations, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in supporting and leading work that is responsible for amplifying the mission of an Institution or organization.
- Experience in navigating and understanding Catholic church structures and Ecclesial relationships.
