Xavier University’s Office of Physical Plant is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper I position to maintain a safe and beautiful campus according to Xavier's standards. Includes but not limited to sports fields, landscaping and mow crew assistance.
Responsibilities
- Apply chemicals, top soil, grades surfaces, prepares seed beds, plants bulbs, weeds flower beds, trim and remove shrubs, hedges and trees.
- Operates hand and power tools to cut, trim, edge grass and turf.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all established safety procedures.
- Lifts or moves heavy equipment or material unassisted up to 125 pounds.
- Picks up litter, remove trash and recycling.
- Remove snow and apply ice melt.
- Services and repairs, cleans and performs daily and preventative maintenance on grounds equipment and shop.
- Assists other departments in related activities.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and driving record deemed insurable under Xavier's Vehicle Use & Driver Policy.
- Proficient in operating hand and power tools.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
