Job Summary:
The Senior Buyer at XCaliber Container is responsible for managing the procurement of storage containers, materials, and supplies needed for the sale and fabrication of containers. This role focuses on maintaining optimal inventory levels, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support production and sales operations. The Senior Buyer works closely with the operations, sales, and fabrication teams to align inventory needs with customer demands and company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement and Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to purchase storage containers, materials, and fabrication supplies at competitive prices.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable and timely delivery of goods.
- Monitor supplier performance, resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing, and ensure compliance with purchase agreements.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock of containers and materials to meet production and sales demands.
- Develop and implement inventory control systems to track incoming and outgoing materials, minimize stockouts, and avoid overstocking.
- Collaborate with the operations and sales teams to forecast demand and plan inventory purchases accordingly.
Cost Management and Budgeting
- Work within budget constraints to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high quality standards for materials.
- Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Analyze cost trends and work to reduce procurement costs while maintaining product quality and availability.
Logistics and Delivery Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers and logistics providers to schedule timely delivery of purchased materials to company facilities.
- Ensure accurate and on-time deliveries, resolving any issues related to delays, shortages, or damaged goods.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchases, deliveries, and inventory transactions.
Reporting and Analysis
- Track and report on key inventory and purchasing metrics, including costs, stock levels, and supplier performance.
- Prepare reports for management to provide insight into purchasing activities, inventory levels, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Review and evaluate purchasing strategies to ensure they align with the company’s financial and operational objectives.
Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all procurement regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory records to ensure accuracy and integrity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, vendor management, and inventory control.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the storage container or fabrication industry.
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics best practices.
- Familiarity with budgeting and cost control processes.
