Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at a residential treatment facility specializing in drug rehabilitation. The LVN will play a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to clients undergoing treatment for substance abuse disorders, including those experiencing withdrawal from addictive substances. Responsibilities:
Client Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients upon admission to the facility, including vital signs, medical history, and substance use history.
- Monitor clients closely for signs and symptoms of withdrawal from addictive substances, assessing severity and implementing appropriate interventions as needed.
- Regularly assess clients' physical and mental health status throughout their stay, documenting findings and communicating with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Medication Management:
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, following established protocols and ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Monitor clients' responses to medications and adjust dosages or treatment regimens as directed by the medical team.
- Educate clients about their medications, including purpose, dosage, and potential side effects, promoting medication adherence and understanding.
Client Support and Education:
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients as they navigate the challenges of withdrawal and recovery.
- Educate clients about substance abuse disorders, withdrawal symptoms, and strategies for relapse prevention, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery process.
- Facilitate group education sessions on topics related to health promotion, hygiene, and self-care to enhance clients' overall well-being.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, including physicians, therapists, and counselors, to develop and implement individualized care plans for clients.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment goals, progress, and any concerns or changes in status.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical rounds to discuss client care and coordinate interventions to address clients' needs.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and client responses in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures, related to medication administration, documentation, and confidentiality.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, such as chart audits and performance improvement initiatives, to promote the delivery of safe and effective care.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited vocational nursing program and current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a healthcare setting, with specific experience in substance abuse disorders and withdrawal management preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmacology, including common medications used in the treatment of substance abuse disorders and their potential side effects.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to recognize changes in clients' condition and respond promptly and appropriately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards in the provision of nursing care.
· Annual TB testing is a mandatory requirement for this position.
