Assistant Manager - Quality
The Assistant Manager - Quality will support the company’s quality initiatives, ensuring products and processes meet or exceed standards and customer expectations. This entry-point leadership role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual committed to fostering continuous improvement. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, The Assistant Quality Manager will assist in implementing and maintaining quality management systems, driving operational excellence, and supporting the broader organizational goals. implementation of solutions.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
- Commitment to Integrity and Excellence: Lead quality assurance processes with a commitment to transparency, ensuring all procedures adhere to regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborative Quality Improvement: Partner cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Finance, and other teams to foster a culture of quality and accountability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement quality management systems (QMS) that align with corporate goals and industry best practices, continually seeking new methods to enhance quality standards.
- Exemplify Excellence in Audits and Compliance: Partners with the Chief Operation Office for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, certifications, and client requirements while maintaining an unwavering commitment to excellence.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize data and metrics to assess quality performance, identify trends, and drive targeted improvements with measurable impact.
- Employee Training and Engagement: Lead training sessions to reinforce quality principles and standards, empowering team members to take ownership of quality initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Manages the Technical Writer and Quality Inspectors in daily operations.
- Unwavering commitment to safety
- Lead with significant physical presence (at least 50% of the time) in all steps of the production process, auditing, coaching, and improving quality requirements and practices
- Communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the team, always with positivity and a can-do approach
- Roll out initiatives thoroughly and own successful outcomes. Perform regular follow-up to ensure the desired changes are maintained
- Commit to timelines and be persistent with execution
- Develop production leadership (Supervisors/Leads) to lead with the same level of Quality scrutiny as a QC manager does
- As part of the plant leadership team, be engaged in problem solving discussions, both with quality and other areas, including safety, cost control, efficiency improvement, production output, and other important topics
- Leverage aggressive growth as a catalyst for enhanced Quality
- Develop and lead a Supplier Quality program
- Champion the Quality Process. Develop and lead a Quality process that follows ISO-9000 structure
- Ensuring that products adhere to quality standards. Implement process checks and visual standards to ensure “Critical to Quality” compliance at each step or handoff in the process
- Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate final products – especially products with packaged refrigeration
- Investigate engineering/manufacturing issues related to assembly of products and take/suggest corrective actions, including process changes and product design changes
- Lead and improve the calibration program
- Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and concisely summarizing data with actions, both in process and warranty data.
- Other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Education: BS in Quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent experience
- Experience and Integrity: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering or manufacturing engineering role, ideally within a manufacturing/production environment.
- Collaborative Skills: Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration, with the ability to build strong relationships and inspire a shared commitment to quality.
- Excellence in Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset and an eye for detail that drives operational excellence, including a focus on deeply understanding underlying cultural factors, beyond 1st level causes
- Commitment to Learning: Certification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO standards) is preferred, with a demonstrated commitment to staying updated on industry best practices and advancements.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in air handling equipment and/or refrigeration a plus.
- Broad knowledge of applied Engineering principles in electrical, mechanical and materials disciplines
- Proven experience with embracing changing priorities
- Detail-oriented, ability to plan, organize, set priorities and manage multiple projects based on business need and leadership expectations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required, always with a positive approach
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and work independently with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required
