Who are we looking for?
You an inquisitive, organized, and driven student with a passion for cybersecurity? Join our team as a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern and gain hands-on experience in researching, detecting, identifying, and uncovering attempts to circumvent preventative security controls in email and web-based attacks. As part of our security team, you will be responsible for creating, enhancing, and automating security processes to detect and alert the organization of active cyber-attacks. You will also have the opportunity to interact with cross-functional IT teams to understand the configuration and use of systems in a corporate environment. Additionally, you will work with and use commercial best-in-class security solutions to understand how they operate and are used to defend an organization. This is a unique opportunity to develop your skills, expand your network, and make a real impact in the field of cybersecurity.
This is a 10-week program beginning on or around February 5, 2025, and ending May 14, 2025. This will be a part-time (up to 29 hours / week maximum) with the potential to go full-time in the future role.
What does this position pay?
The hourly compensation for this role is $20.00 for undergraduate students and $21.00 for graduate students.
What will you do?
- Contribute to updates to Incident Response runbooks and playbooks that are used in cyber security investigations of cyber-attacks
- Review and understand email flow, email security controls, and work to triage and investigate phishing based attacks to identify opportunity for automation and enhancements to preventative controls and documentation.
- Work with the cyber security team to review SIEM logs and develop threat hunting searches for emerging cyber-attacks, known cyber-attack techniques and tactics, and deviations from normal baseline activities.
- Review and understand hardening standards and patching schedules and use security platforms to validate and generate report metrics of the deployment status.
- Understand the vulnerability management process, contribute and document the vulnerability analysis and risk assessment process, and work with cross-functional teams to mitigate or remediate vulnerabilities that are identified.
