We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Field Leader to oversee mid to large-scale construction projects, including individual projects up to $20M. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, proactive problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes. This individual will be responsible for coordinating and executing all aspects of project performance, from planning to completion, ensuring high-quality results and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple projects or a single large project (up to $20M), ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Proactively anticipate, manage, and resolve issues with peers and clients to minimize disruptions to project performance.
- Plan for upcoming work 4-6 weeks in advance, ensuring foremen are held accountable for labor, materials, and equipment availability to meet bid production rates.
- Understand and communicate all project-related documents and collaborate with the project management team to ensure smooth project execution.
- Participate in project pre-planning sessions to define project schedules, construction approaches, layout plans, submittals, and BIM/shop drawing development.
- Address design and coordination issues early to prevent delays or production disruptions.
- Ensure a thorough understanding of Bradley’s scope of work and subcontractor agreements, ensuring all parties comply with contract requirements.
- Maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, coordinating schedules and ensuring work is performed accurately and on time.
- Oversee contract execution before commencing any work, ensuring subcontractor agreements and insurance are in place.
- Ensure all extra work is approved by the client before proceeding and prior to directing subcontractors to perform additional scope.
- Assist the project management team in developing and submitting RFIs, as well as tracking T&M tags and change order requests (CORs).
- Ensure timely completion and submission of daily labor codes, reports, and material/equipment invoices.
- Promote a culture of safety, ensuring all personnel adhere to Bradley's safety programs and lead by example.
- Develop and manage project schedules (using P6) for projects over 1,000 manhours, updating them bi-monthly and holding field teams accountable to schedule milestones.
- Monitor the efficient use of Bradley’s equipment and tools, ensuring proper maintenance and return of idle equipment.
- Oversee daily reporting of quantities and work completion in Procore, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Utilize production tracking tools to monitor crew performance and work with field leads to develop strategies for improving production rates.
- Review and provide input on financial forecasts and COR pricing, collaborating with the project management team.
- Ensure all work is performed to quality standards as outlined in the contract, holding field leads accountable for completing required inspections and checklists.
- Ensure that survey data and substrates provided by others are verified before work begins.
- Dispatch labor and equipment to assigned projects and actively participate in project meetings.
- Review and verify the accuracy of as-built drawings and ensure their timely update.
- Develop and implement project completion lists, ensuring efficient demobilization and closure of projects.
- Advise senior superintendents and project management on potential issues, schedule conflicts, or work interference, offering solutions to resolve these challenges.
- Maintain the highest level of professionalism and ethics in all aspects of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience: 1-3 years as an Assistant Superintendent with 5-10 years in concrete construction.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading projects over $5M and managing multiple teams with minimal oversight.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of all concrete activities, means, and methods, with a general understanding of other trades, including MEP scopes.
- Safety Compliance: Familiarity with Cal OSHA requirements and OSHA 30 certification.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in using software like Procore, Egnyte, Exaktime, Bluebeam, MS Project/P6, and basic MS Office programs (Word, Excel).
- Communication: Ability to professionally and effectively respond to emails and manage communication with team members and clients.
- Problem Solving: Strong ability to anticipate potential challenges and develop proactive solutions.
- Cost Management: Experience managing both lump-sum and cost-plus/GMP contracts.
Leadership and Mentorship:
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example, manage Assistant Superintendents and Foremen, and successfully manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively provide direction and support to team members, ensuring project success through strong leadership.
