GNSS (GPS) creates upwards of $500B in economic value in North America every year, supporting everything from consumer applications, to transportation, to time sync for critical infrastructure. As these industries progress towards autonomy, the performance and security demands of their Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems are increasing beyond what GNSS can support, leaving a need for a cost-effective global solution.
Using lessons we've learned at places like SpaceX and Blue Origin, Xona is building a modern commercial satellite system at the rapid pace of the new space industry leveraging the recent wave of technology and regulatory advancements. Building on our patented small satellite architecture, we are developing a robust and accurate service that is an independent alternative to GNSS rather than a correction, solving the longstanding challenge of obtaining a reliable high accuracy solution. Our satellite system will provide the first ever high-accuracy global navigation and timing services with the security and resilience that modern applications need to operate safely at scale.
As a Structural FEA and DMIG Engineer at Xona, you'll be at the heart of designing and perfecting the models for our innovative payloads, ground support equipment (GSE), and test fixtures. Collaborating with a talented team of EE, RF, Thermal, and ME designers, you’ll bring your expertise in FEA to guide critical design and material decisions, ensuring every detail is up to the challenge. You’ll have the opportunity to lead the development and maintenance of the FEA models and be a key player in supporting AI&T efforts, making sure our designs perform perfectly under real-world conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Over 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Solid understanding of spacecraft systems and subsystems
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Proficient in finite element analysis tools such as Femap, NASTRAN, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience in defining vibration environments and conducting mechanical tests on spacecraft and components
- Familiarity with DMIG generation and associated processes
- Proficient in SolidWorks PDM, with strong skills in SolidWorks modeling and generating technical drawings
- Knowledgeable in AI&T processes
- Capable of writing and documenting detailed test plans, proposals, and procedures
- Skilled in extracting and defining test requirements during test campaign development
- To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States (i.e. Green Card holder), or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
