The Medical Assistant supports Xpress Urgent Care by assisting with administrative and clinical duties at our practices while embodying the mission of the organization. The role of each Medical Assistant is to be responsible for obtaining accurate patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative and clinical tasks, preparing and sterilizing treatment rooms for examinations, providing exemplary customer service, and assisting our providers.
A. Essential Duties
- Obtaining and recording accurate patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Ensure every day all related reports, labs and documents are filed and available in patient’s medical chart prior to their visit.
- Coordinating the daily administrative and clinical activities, including scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and patient medical record maintenance.
- Preparing and sterilizing treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assisting provider with medical procedures and other patient care.
- Prepare patient charts prior to patient visit.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required, and maintain tidiness.
- Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Preparing and administering medications for patients as directed by providers.
- Perform phlebotomy and vaccination as directed by providers.
- Accompany patients to exam rooms while actively listen to chief complaint or reasoning for visit, triage the patient by measuring vital signs, including weight, height, BMI, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, asking reason for visit with provider and accurately document all information in patient’s chart.
- Communicate detailed instructions to patients as instructed by provider while allowing time for patient to ask questions.
- Answer telephone and emails to provide detailed feedback while answering any patient/physician/pharmacy questions.
- Complete and document all pending telephone encounters, documents, labs into patient chart no later than end of business the following day.
- Faxes, voicemails, and emails must be checked throughout the day, at least three (3) times.
- Exercise time management by communicating to providers messages from patients and/or staff in a timely manner.
- Enter accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes in the patient’s chart related to quality measures and procedures.
- Proficiency and accuracy working within electronic medical records and navigation of vendor portals.
- Comply with Quality Preventative Measures for all patients.
- Maintain precise logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc. ) every day.
- Fulfill all other duties as assigned by clinical coordinator, practice administrator or management.
- Assist providers in exam rooms as required.
B. Additional Duties
1. Assists and covers other staff when necessary to maintain high productivity and efficiency in the department.
2. As the company continues to grow, additional responsibilities that are essential for the department to be successful will be assigned accordingly.

3. Outstanding communication and presentation skills
Education:
· Must have certification from a medical assistant program.
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· CPR/BLS certification is preferred.
Experience:
· One to two years of experience in medical field is preferred.
· Knowledge of government CMS regulatory requirements is preferred.
· Medical Terminology.
· Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
· Computer literate: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required.
· eClinicalWorks electronic medical records system knowledge a plus.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
