About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Insurance Compliance and Licensing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of insurance regulations, licensing activities, and surplus lines insurance compliance standards, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. This role is pivotal in ensuring the company adheres to all state and Federal regulations while supporting business expansion efforts.
What You’ll Do
Support Company Licensing:
- Manage due diligence, onboarding, and offboarding of program partners related to regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on state-specific bureaus, offering solutions to complex regulatory issues and escalating concerns as needed.
- Strategically communicate with regulators and stakeholders, addressing inquiries, objections, and day-to-day matters.
- Maintain comprehensive filing documentation for easy access and transparency.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
- Collaborate across functional areas, including Finance, Underwriting, IT, Legal, and program partners, ensuring the accuracy of day-to-day operations.
- Monitor and implement changes in state and Federal insurance regulations affecting product offerings or marketability.
- Research, monitor, and implement changes to comply with surplus lines requirements across various states.
- Coordinate regulatory research to determine requirements for expanding into new states or coverages.
Policy Development and Risk Management:
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures that align with legal and regulatory standards.
- Record, investigate, and escalate potential non-compliance issues for appropriate resolution.
- Conduct and oversee internal and external compliance audits to ensure adherence to regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in insurance compliance and licensing.
- Proven ability to manage a team of compliance and filing professionals.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, commercial lines rating methodologies, state insurance regulations, and property and casualty filing requirements.
- Expertise in rate and form filing procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, agents, and regulatory bodies.
- Intermediate proficiency in standard industry programs and filing applications.
- Experience in developing policies and procedures for operational efficiency is preferred.
- Knowledge of legal principles related to insurance is a plus.
