Responsibilities:
III-V Design & Validation
- Lead and contribute to cutting-edge III-V photonic design projects, focusing on high-performance laser and amplifier architectures.
- Develop and validate designs for high-power Distributed Feedback Lasers (DFBs), Master Oscillator Power Amplifiers (MOPAs), and Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs).
- Optimize epitaxial structures and waveguide designs to produce a high quality beam and maximize wall plug efficiency.
- Proactively identify and address reliability challenges early in the design process to ensure long-term stability and performance.
- Manage and oversee tapeout processes with III-V foundries, ensuring designs meet rigorous performance, manufacturability, and scalability criteria.
- Drive iterative design and validation cycles to achieve continuous improvements in device performance and reliability.
Device Testing & Optimization
- Conduct detailed testing and characterization of III-V devices, including high-power DFBs, MOPAs, and SOAs.
- Develop and refine testing protocols to ensure precision, reproducibility, and alignment with design specifications.
- Analyze test data to identify performance gaps and collaborate with design teams to implement targeted enhancements.
Product Qualification
- Support comprehensive product qualification processes to meet industry standards and surpass customer expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to product validation, compliance, and reliability.
- Formulate strategies to mitigate potential failure modes and strengthen device robustness.
Laser Physics Expertise
- Apply advanced knowledge of laser physics to improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of III-V photonic devices.
- Provide expert insights into the design and optimization of high-power laser systems, ensuring they meet stringent project objectives.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Lead technical collaborations with external foundries and partners on projects involving SOAs, MOPAs, and high-power DFBs.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and product groups, to ensure smooth project execution and integration.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering innovation and encouraging knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- Extensive expertise in III-V photonic device design, with a strong focus on high-power DFBs, MOPAs, and SOAs.
- Hands-on experience in device characterization, testing, and iterative validation processes.
- Deep understanding of reliability challenges in III-V photonics and the ability to devise effective mitigation strategies.
- Strong foundation in laser physics, with the ability to translate theoretical principles into practical, high-performance solutions.
- Track record of managing design iterations and delivering reliable, high-performance photonic solutions.
- Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to align with external foundries and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project success.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering Physics, Photonics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
