Photonic System Validation Engineer
Xscape Photonics is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Photonic System Validation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of photonic systems at both the module and component levels, enabling them to perform effective debugging, corner case studies, and system validation. They will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our photonic systems through comprehensive testing, innovative methodologies, and insightful data analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute engineering validation testing and design validation testing for photonic systems and components.
- Design and execute detailed test plans and methodologies to validate photonic systems and components.
- Conduct comprehensive corner case studies to assess system behavior under edge-case scenarios and ensure robust performance.
- Analyze test results to assess system performance, identify anomalies, and propose corrective actions.
- Debug issues at both module and component levels, ensuring optimal system functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate testing and corner case analysis into the development process.
- Utilize advanced optical test equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers, real-time oscilloscopes, and power meters to perform system validation.
- Utilize data analysis and statistical data visualization techniques to derive actionable insights from measurement data and guide decision-making.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing protocols, corner case study approaches, and validation strategies.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience, or a PhD in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with at least 2 years of industry experience.
- Proficiency in operating optical test equipment, including optical spectrum analyzers, real-time oscilloscopes, and power meters.
- In-depth knowledge of photonic components and systems, including lasers, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), optical splitters, optical filters, and photodetectors.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing robust testing methodologies and conducting corner case studies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in data analysis and visualization tools for performance evaluation.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks or scripting for test process optimization.
- Knowledge of reliability testing and lifetime performance evaluation for photonic systems.
