What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Lab Technician - PIC position at Xscape Photonics Inc?
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to support our R&D and testing operations in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in reliability testing, proficiency with testing both passive and active photonic integrated circuits at the die level, and expertise in working with optics and electronics test equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chamber Setup and Reliability Testing:
- Prepare and set up environmental chambers for reliability testing, including thermal cycling, humidity testing, and other stress tests.
- Monitor and maintain chamber operations to ensure consistent testing conditions.
- Photonic Integrated Circuit Testing:
- Perform electrical and optical testing on photonic integrated circuits at the die level.
- Set up and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate measurements of device performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing, ensuring data integrity and quality.
- Optics and Electronics Testing:
- Operate and maintain a variety of test equipment, such as optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
- Align optical components and configure test setups for PICs and related devices.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Record test data and document testing procedures and results.
- Ensure all data is organized and stored for future reference and compliance.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers and researchers to improve testing protocols and provide feedback on device performance.
- Support prototyping and assembly tasks as needed to meet project deadlines.
Desired Skills:
- Proven experience working with opto-mechanical components and assembling setups involving, free-space optical systems, multi-axis stages for precise alignment and operation, and imaging.
- Experience in automating and controlling test instruments using Python or similar programming languages for efficient and accurate data acquisition and analysis.
