Job Summary
The AR Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all positions within the Accounts Receivable Department; this role plays a crucial part in the revenue cycle process, requiring attention to detail, strong analytical skills, communication and the ability to lead a team effectively.
General Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Team Leadership: o Provide effective leadership and support to the AR team, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring that all team members understand their responsibilities and meet all deadlines in a timely manner. oSupervise the AR team, including assigning tasks, monitoring workloads, and ensuring deadlines are met by utilizing all available tools or resources, such as system work queues, or running reports daily.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide feedback, support professional development, and address any concerns. oLead by example, demonstrating professionalism, commitment to the role, and adherence to company policies.
- Foster a positive, productive work environment and promote collaboration among team members. oProvide daily communication to the AR Manager on any department issues and/or staff updates as soon as you are aware of them.
- Work with AR Manager to prepare and present reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement. oWork with AR Manager to develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by AR Manager
- Payment Posting Management: o Oversee the daily cash posting process, ensuring all payments, adjustments, and denials are accurately recorded timely in the billing system.
- Ensure all financial cash reconciliation workbooks are reconciled and completed daily.
- Refund/Credit Balance Management: o Ensure all credit balances are valid, accurate and being properly accounted for in the billing system.
- Ensure that refund policies are processed accurately and in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Issue Resolution: o Address and resolve discrepancies in any of the department processes , collaborating with other departments as necessary in a timely manner.
- Serve as the point of contact for escalated issues related to the department.
- Compliance and Quality Control: o Monitor compliance with hospital policies and relevant regulations in all cash posting activities.
- Conduct regular audits of all processes within the department to ensure accuracy and adherence to best practices.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree or billing/coding certification preferred.
Experience:
- Associate’s Degree with 5 years of relevant revenue cycle experience in an acute healthcare environment; or oHigh School Diploma with 7 years of relevant revenue cycle experience in an acute healthcare setting.
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within the hospital revenue cycle.
Skills: Strong leadership abilities and excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Epic Experience: Preferred but not mandatory.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, sit or stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive hand and finger motions.
