About the Role

Following work instructions, you’ll be responsible for the end of line process for gearboxes and other transmission related products. You will download data, compile test data, and be responsible for the overall process of end of lining transmissions and other Xtrac products. To help you do this, you will liaise and work closely with our team of Gearbox Technicians, Commercial Engineers, and Design Engineers in our Indianapolis and Mooresville, NC facility to ensure the product passes within appropriate time frames to meet required deadlines.

Your Day

  • Undertake build quality assurance through running the End of Line (EoL) test rigs, ensuring that processes are followed and build test documentation, including photographs, are filed correctly.
  • Assemble and maintain test rigs and test equipment. Report and repair broken or damaged equipment and help maintain stocks of spare parts and consumables such as gearbox oil.
  • Maintain and develop the EoL working environment, including rig servicing, document updates and calibration support. This will include the definition and creation of work instructions to ensure that Xtrac can maintain repeatable processes efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide information and assistance to Engineers.
  • Promote, ensure the use of and maintain calibrated measurement equipment and adherence to Xtrac Quality procedures.
  • Undertake personnel development and attend reviews such as SQDP as required.
  • Operate in an environment of continuous improvement, engaging with the RFC system to report tooling improvements.
  • Always observe the Health and Safety rules and continuously work to improve the safety of the department through the support of risk assessments, safe working practices, and closing out of risk assessment actions. This also includes working to the relevant safety documentation such as risk assessments and safe working procedures.
  • Support the R&D department by providing additional support in times of high demand.
  • Follow company quality procedures, standards, and work instructions.
  • Always maintain clean and tidy work areas.
  • Carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by management.
  • Travel – Minimal (for training only, if required).

About You

  • Required to be able to lift/move 50lbs.
  • Mechanical background in engineering, automotive, or racing environment/industry.
  • Experience in reading data and manipulating it, a plus but not required.
  • Basic assembly and maintenance experience with an ability to interpret component part, assembly drawings and written documents such as work instructions.
  • Good understanding of test working practices.
  • An understanding of data logging concepts.
  • High level of attention to detail and concentration.
  • Ability to learn new skills and enjoy problem solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, without compromising the quality of work.
  • Excellent intrapersonal skills, including written, verbal and listening to promote a positive team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure a good working relationship with other Technicians, Engineers, and customers.
  • Excellent IT skills with MS Office (Outlook356, Word, Xcel, and Teams).
