What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr, Core Systems Engineer position at Y-12 FCU Brand?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain operational stability of the Symitar/IBM servers; identify related software and/or hardware malfunctions.
- Provide after-hour support on Symitar systems, including system pages from core operating system and automation software
- Responsible for the installation, documentation, testing, and communicate timelines of hardware upgrades, software releases and/or patches, AIX updates and IBM Hardware Management Console
- Develop and maintain the Business Continuity Recovery Plan related Symitar and all other core systems
- Ensures core system resources/technology are being used in an effective and secure manner. This includes upgrades as well as maintenance to ensure core technology remains up to date
- Conduct detailed analysis of system interactions to determine technical solutions and resolves problems that are cost effective and consistent with user needs, system capacities and capabilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain Symitar core banking applications and related application such as Episys, Xperience, Enterprise Workflow, SymXchange and jXchange
- Assists in resolving and offering solutions to complex production problems on any in-house or purchased software applications, across multiple hardware platforms and programming languages
- Communicates effectively with users at all levels to understand their job functions, business needs and strategic direction. Is able to translate complex ideas into simple language for non-technicians. Assists with creating testing requirements that are easy for users to understand
- Identify and implement efficiencies related to host system speed and functional integrity
- Create and maintain documentation and operator records related to system updates, tracking and security logs, machine performance logs, and problem status reports regarding all core systems
- Implements computer system requirements by defining and analyzing system problems, designing, implementing, and testing standards and solutions.
- Assists with detailed business analysis, outlining problems, opportunities, and solutions for business units.
- Trains and mentors other team members on operational procedures and processes
- Exercise independent judgement to resolve complex issues
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree - Computer Science or related field and five or more years of Symitar Application Development/Admin and one or more years of Project Management experience Or
- Ten or more years of Symitar core application development/admin
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of structured programming, Windows programming environment. Ability to think orderly, logically and analytically and strong problem-solving skills.
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
