The Shift Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling and authorization of operation activities in the assigned manufacturing facility to ensure the safe operation of the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, scheduling and authorization of operation activities in the assigned manufacturing facility through the use of the Plan of the Day (POD)
- Ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with approved procedures, environmental regulations, operational safety requirements, technical safety requirements, Criticality Safety Approvals (CSAs), Criticality Safety Requirements (CSRs) and health and safety requirements
- Reviewing shift round inspection sheets, status board and logbooks to ensure accuracy and adequacy; touring operation areas to observe equipment, operating conditions, maintenance and housekeeping status
- Maintaining proper configuration and authorizing status changes to major equipment and systems and communicates these changes to appropriate supervisors and personnel
- Provide on-call coverage for assigned weekends based upon a rotation with others in the group; on-call is as needed which may or may not require weekend work for the assigned weekend
Accountabilities:
- To the Operations Manager for authorization of facility activities to ensure they are within the approved procedures and the safety basis of operations for the facility
- To the facility personnel for monitoring of facility conditions to ensure safe, compliant and effective operations
Authorities:
- Authorized to represent operations management in authorization of requested work activities within the assigned facility
- Authorized to coordinate activities to ensure that facility conditions are supportive of a safe, secure and complaint work environment for production and production related activities

- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
- OR Master's degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
- Ten or more years of relevant education, training, and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
- Shift work will be required for this position
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., High School diploma and 3 years nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative).DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment.In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.(Ref. - Broad knowledge of plant facilities and operations and a demonstrated understanding of operations' principles and concepts
