As a structural engineering designer, the candidate will assist responsible engineers in development of high quality detailed structural design documents. Candidate must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, assist multiple engineers utilizing sound time management, perform routine field walk downs in the existing plant facilities and provide field support to craft personnel.
This position will require technical expertise and proficiency with CAD drafting using MicroStation. Candidate should also be experienced in 3D drafting and modeling for multi-discipline projects. Experience utilizing point cloud files and clash detection desired. Must be familiar with structural design and drafting techniques. Should be able to layout drawings and provide simple details with minimal direction. Close coordination will be required with each responsible engineer and candidate will be expected to assist in gathering field data unique to each project. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to CAD drafting, field walk downs, drawing layout, coordination with engineers in other disciplines, evaluating designs for interferences with other engineering disciplines, coordinating with AE firms, and providing 3D modeling and 3D multi-discipline clash detection. The structural engineering designer must be proficient with developing structural drawings (plans, sections and details) for various materials of construction (concrete, steel, masonry, cold-formed steel, timber), and providing general notes on design drawings. On occasion, the candidate may be requested to assist other engineering disciplines in the preparation of their design documents - experience with electrical, civil, architectural or mechanical disciplines desired but not required.

- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1-year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. - Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline from an accredited program with at least 2 years of related experience.
- 7 Years' Experience in structural design and 3D modeling
- Demonstrated technical capabilities, and work ethic
- Experience working with point clouds and 3D modeling software for multi-discipline projects
- Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders
- Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process
- Good written and oral communication skills
