What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Specialist position at Y.E.S. The Arc?
In this position, the Quality Assurance Specialist (QA) is responsible for the overall coordination of accuracy regarding services provided to members of Y.E.S. The Arc and is accountable for ensuring the proper documentation of those services. Above all, the Quality Assurer must be dedicated in every aspect of their position to Y.E.S. The Arc’s philosophy that all people are capable of growth and learning and that Y.E.S. The Arc exists to provide training and opportunities that will maximize growth towards the greatest independence possible for each member served. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of all Y.E.S. The Arc’s members.
- Demonstrate respect and promote choice for all of the members we support.
- Act as an appropriate role model and support members in using appropriate language, dress, manners and respect.
- Draft quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Interpret and implement quality assurance standards.
- Evaluate adequacy of quality assurance standards.
- Devise procedures and directions for recording and reporting data.
- Review the implementation and efficiency of quality and inspection systems.
- Plan, conduct and inspect materials accuracy.
- Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities.
- Investigate member and guardian complaints and non-conformance issues.
- Collect and compile statistical quality data.
- Submit to DDD required progress reports for each program.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement within the organization.
- Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
- Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards.
- Coordinate, be present for and support on-site audits, monitoring, and self-assessments conducted by external providers.
- Coordinate annual inspections with the Fire Department, DHS, and for Fire Extinguishers.
- Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Review all incident reports conduct Internal Fact Findings (IFF) as required by DDD
- Monitor risk management activities.
- Responsible for document management systems.
- Problem analysis and problem solving.
- Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
- Follow Y.E.S. The Arc policies and procedures
- Understand and follow proper Y.E.S. The Arc policies and procedures in the event of emergency situations.
- Document and report any infractions and/or concerns in the Day Program or Residential Program to the Day Program Supervisor or Residential supervisor in a timely manner.
- Be proactive in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment for our members.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and required trainings.
- Perform other duties and complete all other projects as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a high school diploma or GED; and
- Quality inspection or auditing experience.
- Must have a professional and mature demeanor with excellent people and communication skills. Possessing a high regard for confidentiality is of utmost importance.
- Must possess time management and organizational skills, be detail orientated and able to multi-task.
- Be self-motivated, self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have strong computer skills including experience in Word, Excel, Outlook and internet usage.
- Possess good typing and grammatical skills.
- The ability to work flexible hours.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must be fingerprinted and able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Drivers License.
- Must possess and maintain a clean 39-month driving record (no major traffic violations and not more than two minor traffic violations).
- Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
- Must possess the ability to exercise restraint and self-control in potentially volatile situations, including, but not limited to, being confronted verbally and/or physically in a threatening or aggressive manner by the people receiving support. This also includes the ability to deal with and redirect aggressive behavior.
- Experience with implementation of corrective action programs.
- Industry-specific experience preferred.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The person in this position must attend and be able to pass the following trainings and maintain current certifications as required by Y.E.S. The Arc, DES/DDD and/or DES/RSA.

SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday, 8 - 5 with one hour lunch. Hours may very based upon needs outside normal business hours.
