What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Manager Body Weld position at Y-tec Keylex Toyotetsu Alabama?
The Assistant Manager uses a combination of people leadership, analytical thinking, problem solving skills, technical expertise, and industry experience to aid the department’s Manager in delivering a quality product to our customer while ensuring the safety needs of all team members are met in the Body Weld area.
Essential Functions (but are not limited to):
- Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety Policies/Procedures and wearing all required PPE
- Develop and lead Group Leaders in all areas such as employee relations, problem solving (TPS), setting and achieving goals, manufacturing processes, scheduling, equipment problems, etc.
- Work closely with department in the areas of safety, quality and 5S. Ensure programs are maintained, the department is following all standards, and appropriate training is effectively given to all employees.
- Provide assistance to employees and Group Leaders in solving work-related problems as well as manage employee training.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain a high level of compliance with policies and procedures within the department.
- Assist in monitoring production schedules to ensure products are manufactured and scheduled delivery dates are met in order to plan department operations.
- Assist in establishing priorities for the department.
- Create and enforce Body Weld policies and procedures to ensure no production delays will be
- Preview production and operating reports and resolve operational manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimal costs and prevent operational delays as needed.
- Report machine or personnel issues to their next direct member of management.
- Develop standardized work practices for the department and observe Team Members to ensure compliance.
- Regular attendance is required
- A rotating shift is required.
Other Duties:
Must be flexible to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish YKTA Goals and objectives.
- 3-5 years supervisory experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of welding production processes is preferred.
- Plex experience is a plus.
- Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.
- Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ Ecoat environments.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing on the plant floor.
- Must be able to traverse the entire facility.
- Must be able to lift up to 33 pounds at times.
- Extended periods of sitting in front of a computer.
