Reports to: Senior QA Manager
Responsibilities
- Lead the ingredient hold and release team to ensure all applicable quality & food safety checks are completed prior to positive release to production.
- Effectively implement processes to track & identify expired ingredients and work with cross-functional teams for disposition decisions.
- Maintain the Hold & Release log daily to track products on incident hold, status & disposition decision.
- Maintain the incident hold log number section in the deviation log for alignment.
- Lead visual inspections and manage the retained sample library required for validations, positive release & investigation purposes.
- Effectively manage the temporary labour required for visual inspection and sorting.
- Implement effective corrective actions for gaps identified from external & internal audits related to hold and release process.
- Create and maintain SOP’s and WI’s related to hold and release processes.
- Coordinate in-house and third-party analytical testing & micro testing required for positive release for finished product disposition decision.
- Ensure potentially affected materials are placed on incident hold in the ERP system & identified with a hold tag.
- Coordinate the disposal and/or destruction of finished product and ensure all stakeholders are aligned.
- Track CoD’s when RM is sent out for destruction.
- Assist in collecting quality metrics as required.
- Verify implementation of traceability systems.
- Provides support for suppliers and various audit programs.
- Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
- Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- University degree in Food Science or related field is required
- 3 years experience in the food industry is required
- Good knowledge of the food environment, food safety systems and the related regulatory requirements (CFIA, Health Canada, USDA, FDA)
- Possess a good knowledge over Food Safety System (HACCP and other Food safety program certification)
- Excellent computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Excel to conduct data analysis and demonstrated analytical proficiency
- Team player and ability to positively influence others
