Reports to: Technical Director
Pay: $35-$40
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain utilities systems such as boilers, chillers, compressors, nitrogen generators, RO water systems, and HVAC units to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential services for the manufacturing facility.
- Manage and execute the Preventative Maintenance program.
- Perform routine inspections and tests on utilities and wastewater treatment equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and environmental health and safety.
- Conduct regular inspections of utilities equipment, identifying and addressing potential issues or inefficiencies to prevent disruptions to manufacturing operations.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines when handling chemicals and operating equipment, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
- Handle and manage the use of strong chemicals, including acids, alkalis, and disinfectants, following strict safety protocols, and ensuring proper storage, handling, and disposal to prevent hazardous incidents and maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in emergency response protocols and spill containment procedures to minimize environmental impacts in case of accidents or system failures.
- General maintenance tasks as required
Qualifications:
- 3 – 5 years of experience working in a utilities/maintenance role in various environments is required.
- Able to understand and safely use various hand tools and power tools to carry out and complete utility tasks.
- Demonstrated knowledge of utility systems such as boilers, chillers, compressors, wastewater treatment, HVAC, and general facilities.
- General understanding of controls and instrumentation.
- General understanding of PLC/software and hardware.
- Experience working with steam, pneumatics, and hydraulic equipment.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Adherence to plant rules and GMP safety guidelines and practices.
- Must be able and willing to participate in an on-call rotation that may include weekends, overtime, and holidays.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Forklift certification or willingness to become forklift certified.
- Ability to work in cold and hot environments.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and to stand or sit for prolonged periods (average 8-12 hours).
Preferred Skills:
- Trade or comparable experience preferred, along with other related certificates or designations relevant to the role.
- Experience working in a food and beverage manufacturing facility
